The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail.
- Nelson Mandela
Ever since I was a kid, there was a fear inside me that when the time came to face the “real world," I would fail. Sure enough, just a few years out of college, I found myself broke, jobless, and what’s more, I was heartbroken after breaking up with a woman who I had a magical connection with, yet couldn’t seem to love back. Maybe it was because I wasn’t able to look past her flaws to the person she was deep down. Or maybe it was my own lack of self-love. Whatever the reason, I wasn't ready to accept the love she was offering me, and I had to end things, to work on myself. After sulking for a bit, I dug deep to find the motivation to put my life together. And then this song came.
This song is for anyone who has felt alone while going through any sort of struggle. Whether that be mental, physical, financial, etc. The light we find during our darkest hours oftentimes ends up becoming that which defines us.
Love is everything. And without self-love, we cannot love.

(A Change That Only Love Can Bring)
LYRICS:
Verse 1:
There’s a fear inside we’ve got to face alone
A quiet villain we rely upon
Little miss worthless, far from perfect, don’t know how to love cause, never deserved it
Silent when she sleeps
cause she don’t wanna dream
Little girl don't know which way to fill the cup
She feels some sadness when she feels the love
Ready for the mountain, tumble down
River’s gonna flow, but it feels like drowning
Swim that heart to me
Lost out on the sea
Chorus:
Oh, hit the bottom, throw the line off now
And row!
...if you want to feel the light
Of heaven up above you, burning like a sun for beauty in the words we sing
Hallelujah, now it’s time to make a change that only love can bring
Verse 2:
There’s a kind of courage that I’ve felt before
The freedom to fall and know that I can try to love you
Not the perfect image of you, just you
Just you
Why don’t you fill that heart with me?
I heard you lost the key
I’m going to ride this river through the mighty storm, and go there knowing that I’m comin’ home
There’s something left inside you, something real
Take me by the hand, oh let me feel you rising from the deep
We’re rising from the deep
And I think I see a gleam
I think I see a gleam!
Chorus:
Oh, hit the bottom, throw the line off now
And row!
...if you want to feel the light
Of heaven up above you, burning like a sun for beauty in the words we sing
Hallelujah, now it’s time to make a change that only love can bring
